About

I am a song-writing guitarist of some ability, currently trading as a three piece under the name Kithara.

Unfortunately our three piece is currently missing a 3rd member and are looking to recruit someone who can sing and/or play a lead instrument (violin/flute/cello/etc) in the Manchester-Huddersfield-Leeds type region - any applicants welcome......

My Influences

I'm reluctant to publish my influences because I don't believe I sound like any one of them, rather taking elements from all of them but here's my top 7 most influential artists and why:

  1. Neil Finn - simply the best song writer I know. Now back and in top form with Crowded House.

  2. Edge from U2 - for the textured guitar parts built up with delay.

  3. Souad Massi - Algerian Singer-songwriter who combines all my favourite sounds: Flamenco, Arabesque, pop-rock, indian, african.

  4. Gary Moore and Slash - I grew up listening to these guys and now own a Les Paul with delusions of being able to blues-solo....

  5. Antonio Forcione - The man knows the beauty of the acoustic and classical guitars.

  6. Bellowhead - Previously I liked the idea of folk (acoustic music, keeping traditions alive, old-school entertainment by talented people). Now I actually like folk and it's all come about by being totally blown away by them in concert. Then subsequently falling in love with the songs on their album.

  7. The Commitments - Saw that film at age 15-16. Prior to that my taste was a mixed bad - some good, some, well, Roxette. The Commitments introduced me to soul, Otis Redding and the rest - never looked back.
